How will you benefit from Jan Dhan Yojana?
According to various sources, under the Jan Dhan Yojana, even if you have no balance in your account, you can get an overdraft facility of up to Rs 10,000. This facility is like a short-term loan. Earlier, this amount was Rs 5,000. However, the central government has now increased it to Rs 10,000. That is, if you do not have money in your account, you will be able to withdraw up to Rs 10,000 in one go.
What is Jan Dhan Account?
One of the most ambitious financial schemes of the central government. Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) provides access to banking/savings and deposit accounts, loans and insurance. You can open this account at any bank branch or bank partner outlet. PMJDY account can be opened with zero balance. To avail overdraft facility, your Jan Dhan account must be at least 6 months old. Also, the maximum age for overdraft facility in this account is 65 years. Otherwise, you will be allowed an overdraft of only up to Rs 2,000.
How to open a PMJDY account?
If you want to open an account under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), you can open a Jan Dhan account in any bank. If you have another savings account, you can convert it to a Jan Dhan account. Any Indian citizen aged 10 years and above can open a Jan Dhan account under this scheme.
