The Government of India has opened the application process for the Pradhan Mantri YASASVI Scholarship Scheme 2025 for meritorious students from OBC, Economically Backward Classes (EBC), and Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (DNT). Launched to provide a strong foundation for economically weaker students in the field of education, this scholarship scheme will provide financial assistance to eligible students to continue their studies from classes 9th to 12th.

Scheme Objective and Eligibility

This scholarship scheme aims to connect students from OBC, EBC, and DNT communities whose families are economically weaker to mainstream quality education. Only students whose annual family income is ₹2.5 lakh or less are eligible to apply for the scheme. Additionally, benefits will be available only to students studying in selected high-performing schools across the country that have achieved 100% results in the 10th and 12th board exams for years.

Financial assistance for 9th and 10th-grade students

Under the Pradhan Mantri Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme, students in grades 9th and 10th will receive an annual grant of ₹75,000, while students in grades 11th and 12th will receive up to ₹1.5 lakh per year. This amount will include school fees and hostel charges, significantly reducing the burden of education on parents.

Application Procedure and Deadline

Interested students can register themselves by visiting the National Scholarship Portal, scholarships.gov.in. The deadline for applications is August 31, 2025. Students must complete the online application with the required documents within the stipulated time.

What Will Happen

Under this scheme, students will be selected through the computer-based Yashasvi Entrance Test (YET). The exam will be three hours long, with a total of 100 questions. The exam will include 30 questions from mathematics, 20 from science, 25 from social science, and 25 from general studies. Selection will be completely fair and merit-based, ensuring that only truly talented and deserving students benefit.
