Today, thousands of poor families across the country are significantly reducing the burden of their electricity bills by joining the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. The primary objective of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is to install rooftop solar systems up to 3 kilowatts in homes across the country and provide 300 units of free electricity per month through a subsidy of up to 60%. This landmark initiative will enable approximately 10 million families to save approximately ₹15,000 crore annually.

Subsidy and Simple Application Process
Under this scheme, the government provides a subsidy of ₹30,000 per kilowatt, with a total subsidy of up to ₹78,000 for installing rooftop panels up to 3 kilowatts. The application process is extremely simple:
Applicants can register themselves by visiting the official website at pmsuryaghar.gov.in.
They must provide details such as their state, electricity distribution company (DISCOM), consumer number, mobile number, and email address.
After applying, the solar system is installed by a registered vendor upon receipt of feasibility approval from the DISCOM.
Upon completion, the installation is verified by installing a net meter, and the subsidy is then transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account.
The entire process is completely transparent and online, ensuring no hassles for beneficiaries.
