The online portal for solar pump booking has been open since November 26th

The Agriculture Department has stated that the online portal for booking solar pumps has been active since November 26th. Farmers can register on the agriculture.up.gov.in website and complete their application by selecting the “Book Solar Pump on Subsidy” option. The entire process has been kept online to make it easy and transparent.

60 percent subsidy

Under the PM Kusum Yojana, farmers will receive a 60 percent subsidy on the total cost of installing a solar pump. The remaining 40 percent will have to be borne by the farmer. A token money of Rs. 5000 is mandatory at the time of application, which will be accepted through online payment.

Token money will be forfeited

For the application, the farmer must ensure the required boring depth according to the pump capacity. Officials will conduct verification, and if any discrepancies are found, the deposited token money will not be refunded. This provision has been implemented to maintain transparency in the system.

Selection through e-lottery if there are more applications

The Agriculture Department has clarified that if the number of applications is less than the target, the farmers will be selected automatically. However, if there are more applications, the selection will be done through an e-lottery under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate. Selected farmers will be informed about the further process at their registered mobile numbers.

6 percent interest subsidy on the loan facility

Farmers who do not have sufficient funds to contribute their share can avail themselves of a loan from the bank. Under the Agricultural Infrastructure Fund scheme, a total interest subsidy of 6 percent is provided on these loans, which will significantly reduce the financial burden on farmers.
