PM Kisan Yojana Rules: The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is considered a major relief for small and marginal farmers in the country. Launched in 2019, this scheme provides eligible farmers with financial assistance of Rs 6,000 annually, which is transferred directly to their bank accounts in three Rs 2,000 installments.
But as the scope of this scheme has expanded, so have the questions in farmers’ minds. The most common question is whether all members of a family can benefit from this scheme, especially in families where more than one person is involved in farming. The government has established clear rules regarding this, which are crucial to understand.
What do the rules related to family say?
According to the rules of the PM Kisan Yojana, only one member of a family can benefit from this scheme. If the family owns cultivable land, only one beneficiary will receive 6,000 rupees annually based on that land. Only the person whose name is registered in government records for agricultural land can apply.
Even if a husband and wife or other family members work together on the farm, not everyone will receive separate benefits. The government’s focus is on the land and the family unit, not on the number of people involved in farming. This is why many applications from the same family are rejected.
When can more than one person get the benefit?
If two family members live separately and own separate pieces of land, in some cases, both may be eligible for benefits. However, they must be registered as separate families in government records. Simply having separate bank accounts or different names is not sufficient. Land records, family identification, and local verification are used to determine whether the benefits are being distributed to the correct individuals.
Farmers can apply online at pmkisan.gov.in or seek assistance from their nearest CSC center. Authentic Aadhaar, bank account, and land documents are essential. Providing incorrect information may result in the installment being withheld. Therefore, always apply in accordance with the applicable rules.
