PM Kisan Yojana 22nd Installment: The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is a flagship farmer welfare scheme of the central government, under which eligible farmers receive financial assistance of six thousand rupees annually. This amount is sent directly to the farmers’ bank accounts in three equal installments. The government has already released 21 installments of this scheme, and farmers are eagerly awaiting the 22nd installment. Due to a lack of proper information about the scheme’s rules, many farmers are deprived of the benefits, while some ineligible individuals apply, leading to payment delays.

The objective of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is to assist small and marginal farmers with the financial challenges associated with farming. Under this scheme, the central government provides eligible farmers with six thousand rupees annually, enabling them to purchase seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other agricultural necessities. This amount is entirely disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to eliminate the role of intermediaries.

How many installments have been released so far?

The government has released 21 installments of the PM Kisan scheme so far. The 21st installment was transferred to farmers’ accounts on November 19, 2025. Since then, farmers have been waiting for the 22nd installment. However, the installment is only released when the farmer’s record is completely accurate and verified.

Which farmers are eligible for this scheme?

Only those farmers whose agricultural land is registered in their name in the official land records of the state government are eligible for this scheme. Small and marginal farmers who own cultivable land and whose names are recorded in the land records (Khatauni, Jamabandi, or Patta) are considered eligible. The farmer’s Aadhaar card, bank account, and land-related details must be updated and match each other.

Which farmers do not receive the benefits of the scheme?

Farmers whose land is not registered in their name are not covered under this scheme. This includes sharecroppers, contract farmers, and those cultivating land belonging to others without a written lease. Additionally, income taxpayers, government employees, high-pension recipients, and institutional landowners are also ineligible for this scheme.

The Situation of Farmers Cultivating Land Owned by Others

Farmers who cultivate land belonging to someone else, rather than their own land, cannot receive benefits under the PM Kisan Yojana unless their name is recorded in the land records. Simply cultivating the land is not sufficient for eligibility. Legal ownership of the land or having one’s name officially recorded in the land records is mandatory to avail of the scheme’s benefits.

Reasons for Delays in PM Kisan Installments

Sometimes, even eligible farmers are deprived of their installments. The main reasons for this include discrepancies in names on the Aadhaar card and bank account, failure to link the Aadhaar card to the bank account, errors in land records, incomplete e-KYC process, or mistakes in the bank account number and IFSC code. Payment can also be withheld if verification is not completed on time.
