PM-Kisan Update 2026: A major buzz has begun regarding the 22nd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana for the country’s millions of farmers. Four months have passed since the 21st installment was released on November 19, 2025.
Although the government has not yet officially announced a specific date, based on various media reports and past patterns, it is expected that this amount may be transferred to farmers’ accounts in the last week of February or the first week of March 2026 (before Holi).
First-time applicants will receive the 22nd installment
New applicants often have the question of whether they can directly receive the next installment. The answer is positive. If you are an eligible farmer and have not yet registered for this scheme, you can apply now and enroll. Once your application is approved and your data is verified, you will be eligible for the next installment, the 22nd installment.

In exceptional cases, if the beneficiary’s registration process is delayed, they may receive the previous pending installment along with the next installment, provided they remained eligible for that period.
Registration Methods and Required Eligibility
The government has kept the registration process completely digital and transparent. To be eligible, the applicant must be a farmer and have cultivable land registered in their name.
Online Registration: You can apply online through the ‘New Farmer Registration’ option on the pmkisan.gov.in portal.
Other Options: You can visit your nearest Common Service Center (CSC) or apply offline through your village Patwari/Nodal Officer.
Required Documents: Keep your Aadhaar card (mandatory), land documents (Khasra/Khatauni), and Aadhaar-linked bank account passbook handy at the time of application.
Farmer ID and e-KYC
In 2026, the scheme’s rules were made more stringent to prevent fraud. Farmer ID (Unique Farmer Identity Card) has now been made mandatory for new registrations in 14 states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. Furthermore, e-KYC is mandatory for both existing and new beneficiaries.
If your e-KYC is incomplete, your funds may be blocked even if your name is on the beneficiary list. You can complete your KYC from home using an OTP on the PM-KISAN portal or using face authentication technology on the PM-KISAN mobile app.

Main Reasons for Installment Delays
Sometimes, installments don’t arrive even when everything is in order. This can be due to inadequate land verification (Land Seeding) or Aadhaar not being linked to the bank account (DBT mapping).
If you recently purchased land or more than one family member is receiving benefits, your installment may be withheld until physical verification is complete. You can check your status by going to the ‘Know Your Status’ option on the portal to see if your Aadhaar and land seeding are showing ‘Yes’.
