What is the math of insurance plan?
Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, the farmer has to pay 2% premium for Kharif crop, 1.5% for Rabi crop and 4% for commercial crop. The remaining premium is paid by the government. How and how much compensation is received?
If the crop is damaged after taking the insurance policy, the insurance company calculates it according to a formula. The threshold crop is calculated by taking the average of the last five years. Out of 7 years, only those years which have been the best are calculated. Its average is taken and divided by 5. Suppose it is 2240 per hectare. Actual crop means the insured crop. Suppose it is 3000 kg per hectare. Sum insured means the amount which has been fixed for one acre of crop. For example it is 20000 per hectare.
