Rs 50000 Pension- Big news for old people. During the previous Aam Aadmi Party government, the elderly of Delhi were wandering from door to door to get a fixed pension, after the change of power, their problem of delay in getting pension has been resolved, now a new pension is also going to be started for them. The Delhi government will start 50,000 new pensions on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will start the new pension on September 17.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said that this effort of our government is for those senior citizens of the capital who are financially weak and need support. Under the new pension, 50 thousand additional senior citizens will be added to the scheme. Application for pension will be done through e-district portal and the eligibility process will be completely transparent. Beneficiaries will be selected on ‘first come, first served’ principle.
The Chief Minister informed that a budget of about Rs 149 crore has been allocated under this scheme for the coming financial year. He said that if the number of beneficiaries increases further in future and additional requirement is felt, the government will provide more budget without any delay.
The Chief Minister has appealed to all eligible senior citizens and their families to apply on time to avail the benefits of this scheme. She said that she urges all eligible elderly and Divyangjans to come forward and avail the benefits of these schemes. The Delhi government currently provides pension to about 3.8 lakh women, 4.6 lakh elderly persons and 1.3 lakh disabled persons. The government spends about Rs 1140 crore every year on pension schemes.
During the last election, the BJP had announced an increase of Rs 500 in this pension, which would increase the additional burden on the government. However, this increase has not been implemented yet.
