UIDAI Update – Both the PAN card and Aadhaar card are important documents, and their absence can hamper many important tasks. Without a PAN card, many financial tasks, including filing income tax returns, are hampered. Linking it with Aadhaar has now become mandatory.

If your PAN and Aadhaar cards are not linked, problems will arise. The deadline for linking your PAN with Aadhaar is near. Failure to do so by the deadline could result in your PAN becoming invalid.

The implication is that you will not be able to perform any financial tasks after this date. Therefore, it is crucial to complete this process promptly. Linking your PAN with Aadhaar is also available online.

Understand why linking your PAN with Aadhaar is essential.

The CBDT clarified the situation by stating that those who acquired Aadhaar cards before October 1, 2025, will be required to link their Aadhaar and PAN cards by December 31, 2025. If anyone fails to do so, the Income Tax Department may announce the closure of all its services. This will prove to be a major setback for PAN card holders.

Furthermore, income tax returns will not be filed with an inactive PAN. Any pending returns will cease to be processed. Refunds will not be issued. Any defective returns currently in processing will also be halted. TDS and TCS will be deducted at a higher rate because your PAN card will no longer be considered valid. The government is also repeatedly advising people to link their PAN cards on time.
