QR Code in PAN 2.0
PAN 2.0 is an e-governance project to improve taxpayer services. It brings all PAN and TAN services together in one place. It gives online PAN checks for banks, companies, and government offices.
The QR code is not new. It started in 2017. In PAN 2.0, it will be dynamic and show the latest data. If your old card has no QR code, you can apply for a new one under PAN 1.0 or PAN 2.0. The QR code helps in quick verification. When scanned, it shows the photo, signature, name, parents’ names, and date of birth of the card holder.
Penalty Rules
As per Section 272B of the Income Tax Act, if a person does not have PAN when required or has more than one PAN, they may have to pay a penalty of Rs 10,000. No one is allowed to hold more than one PAN. If someone has two PANs, they must ask the officer to cancel the extra one.
