UPI Transactions without Internet: In today’s digital age, people’s lives have become easier. Earlier, for any banking or non-banking services, KYC verification, account opening, or money transactions, people had to visit offices. However, due to digitalization, people can now easily complete all these tasks from the comfort of their own homes. Similarly, money transactions can be conducted at any time and from anywhere. The use of cash has decreased significantly. Everyone uses online methods, i.e., UPI, for all payments. This requires an internet connection. But now there is another way for those who face internet connectivity issues; they can also make UPI payments without the internet.
Make UPI payments even without internet
UPI can be used with the help of the internet, but sometimes a poor network, running out of mobile data, or having a keypad mobile phone makes online payments difficult. To solve this problem, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched a USSD-based facility.

Through this NPCI facility, you can make UPI payments even without the internet. It offers easy text options that anyone can use easily. You just have to dial a short code from your mobile number registered with your bank, and you can send money even in areas with low network coverage.
What is Offline UPI Payment?
Offline UPI payment is a facility that allows users to make UPI transactions even without the internet. This facility works on USSD technology and is accessed by dialing *99#. To use this facility, your mobile number must be linked to your bank account.
How to activate Offline UPI payment
To use offline UPI, you first need to activate it. To do this, dial *99# from your phone and follow the instructions on the screen. After this, you will have to select your language and enter your bank’s IFSC code, select your bank account, and fill in your debit card details. After the verification is complete, your offline UPI service will be activated. Once activated, you can use it anytime without the internet.

How to send money using offline UPI
Once you activate the service, sending money becomes very easy. Simply dial *99# from your registered mobile number, select the option to send money, and enter the recipient’s UPI ID, mobile number, or bank details.
Then, enter the amount and complete the transaction by entering your UPI PIN. This payment is processed instantly through the USSD system. Please note that a maximum of ₹5,000 can be transferred in a single transaction using offline UPI.
