Most accounts are not linked to Aadhaar yet

IRCTC may have more than 13 crore active users on its website, but only 10% of these users are those whose Aadhaar verification has been done. This figure shows that most people have not yet been able to get their identity officially verified. In such a situation, the railways are now moving towards making this rule mandatory so that the ticketing system can become transparent and convenient for the right users.

What will be the benefit of E-Aadhaar Verification?

According to the Railway Minister, with the introduction of this system, the real passengers, that is, those who want to travel and book tickets without taking the help of any broker or agent, will be able to get instant and confirmed tickets. Because now tickets will not be booked without Aadhaar verification, users who buy tickets with fake IDs, use scripts and grab tickets through bots will be eliminated.

Big action on fake IDs

IRCTC has blocked about 3.5 crore fake IDs in the last one year. Most of these IDs were created on short-term email addresses, which were used only to book tickets and then sell them. But now with the help of AI-based system, these fake accounts have been identified and blocked, which has also reduced the traffic on the IRCTC website and the number of people creating new accounts has also come down to 10,000-12,000 per day.

The rule may also be applicable on counter tickets

According to reports, now the railways is preparing to implement Aadhaar Verification not only on online ticket booking, but also on Tatkal Tickets available at the counter. That is, if you want a ticket, you will have to prove your identity completely. This will completely curb the fake activities of ticket black marketers and agents.

IRCTC says that this change is to improve the experience of passengers, so that only those people can book tickets who really want to travel in the train.
