The government is initiating the issuance of Aadhaar cards for children under the age of 5. This process is being conducted through the Clutch Child Enrollment Light Client Scheme, which is managed by the Indian Post Payment Bank.

To obtain an Aadhaar card for their children, parents must visit the post office and submit the necessary documents. Additionally, there is an option for home enrollment facilitated by postal workers.

Akhilesh Kumar, the Senior Superintendent of the Azamgarh Post Office, stated that the Indian Post Payment Bank is responsible for creating Aadhaar cards for children under the CLC scheme. Parents must provide a birth certificate along with their own identification documents. Postal workers are equipped with devices to assist with home enrollment in every village.

The Aadhaar card will be issued based on the biometric data of the parents.

It is essential for at least one parent to possess an Aadhaar card to register their child. Since biometric and iris scanning for children under 5 is not feasible, the biometric data of a parent will be utilized instead. Verification of the child’s date of birth will need to be conducted at the Senior Postmaster’s office.

Once the child turns 5, the Aadhaar card can be updated, incorporating the child’s biometric and iris data for a new card.
