If you do not do this, then from April 1 you will not be able to use UPI. To prevent fraud, a new rule related to UPI payment service will come into effect from April 1. Under this, banks and payment service providers (PSPs) will have to update their database before March 31 so that inactive or changed mobile numbers can be removed.

Under this, banks will remove inactive mobile numbers from their database by March 31. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has directed to use the Mobile Number Revocation List (MNRL) available on the Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP) to prevent fraud. It is necessary to update the record every week

NPCI has made it mandatory for banks and UPI apps like Google Pay and PhonePe to update mobile number records at least once a week. Companies providing UPI services will have to use MNRL or the Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP) to identify and remove suspects.

Know which users will suffer

If the mobile number has changed and is not updated in the bank, such users will not be able to use UPI.

People who have deactivated their number without updating it in the bank. They will not be able to use UPI.

Deactivated mobile numbers that have not been used for services like calls, SMS, etc. will be removed from the UPI network.
