Indian Railways strives to ensure that passengers travel without any safety or comfort issues. However, passengers are not always sure about their tickets. It happens too often, when traveling by train, that people we are sure of many things then they worry whether their ticket is safe, where they kept it, or whether they lost it. And often they start to get tense about it. Now listen?? there is no need to worry.

If you lose your ticket, you still can travel. The only rule is to carry the ticket purchased from the railway counter while traveling. But now remember to securely keep your counter ticket with you. If you don’t, there could be issues on your way.

What to Do If You Don’t Have a Train Ticket

According to the new railway rules, if you don’t have a ticket while traveling, the TT (ticket inspector) can decide what to do. He or she can also fine you. But if you have already booked a ticket, you can show the coach and berth details from the IRCTC app to the ticket inspector. If your ticket details were sent to your mobile number or email ID, you can show that message too. You can also show the PNR message as proof that you have booked a ticket.

In the railways, you can buy tickets in two ways — from the ticket counter (offline) or online. Counter tickets must be collected from the railway station, while online tickets are sent to your mail ID.

There are also different rules for ticket cancellation. If you book online and don’t travel, cancel your ticket, or your ticket remains unconfirmed, your refund will automatically go to your account. But this is not the case for offline tickets. You must carry a printed counter ticket while traveling.
