Customer transactions will be completely closed in the post offices of 22 postal divisions in Bihar on August 2 (Saturday). After the Sunday holiday on August 3, the Postal Department will launch its new software on August 4. Because of this, transaction work has already stopped in rural post offices.

There will be no transactions in sub post offices from August 1, and in head post offices on August 2. Transactions will start again with the help of the new software from August 4.

Bhojpur Division’s Postal Superintendent Neeraj Kumar said that there are a total of 29 postal divisions in Bihar. Out of these, apart from four RMS divisions, the new software has already been launched as a pilot project in three divisions — Patna Sahib, Katihar, and Motihari.

Zero Balance Process Before Software Launch

The new software will be launched in the remaining 22 postal divisions on August 4. Before this, every post office must have zero balance. So, the process of making zero balance was already started in branch post offices, and their transaction work was stopped. Most branch post offices have now reached zero balance.

All sub-post offices will be zero-balanced between August 1 and 2. Head post offices will be zero-balanced on August 2. After this, the new software will be launched. Under the Bhojpur Postal Division, there are two head post offices — Ara and Buxar. A total of 148 branch post offices and 28 sub-post offices under the Buxar Head Post Office will be affected.

New Features and Customer Advisory

The new software is designed to make postal services faster, safer, and more digital. It is being launched in different phases across the country. With this software, customers will get new features like UPI payments, real-time tracking, QR code-based payments, and GPS tracking.

Due to Raksha Bandhan, there is a large crowd in main post offices. Over 500 speed posts are being booked every day. To manage the crowd, the Postal Department is planning to open extra counters.

The Postal Department has requested customers to complete important work before August or enjoy the new features after August 4. The Post Superintendent said the launch was earlier planned before, but it was shifted to August 4 due to Raksha Bandhan.
