Indian Railway Rule 1 July 2025: Many important rules are going to change across the country from July 1, 2025. On the first day of every month, changes are made to various rules, including those related to gas cylinders, Aadhaar cards, and credit cards, which have a direct impact on the daily lives of ordinary people. Indian Railways is going to increase the fare for second-class passengers from July 1, 2025. This means that, from July 1, travelling by train will be expensive for passengers. Earlier in 2020, the railways changed the fare. However, railway officials say that this is the lowest increase in the last 12 years.
How much will the fare increase
There will be an increase of half a paisa per kilometre on a journey of more than 500 km in second-class (ordinary) trains. For those travelling in the AC class, there will be an increase of 2 paisa per kilometre. Fares will be increased by 1 paisa per kilometre in mail/express trains.
Now, Tatkal tickets will be issued only to passengers whose IRCTC account is linked to their Aadhaar. From July, OTP-based authentication will be mandatory, which will be sent to the mobile number linked to Aadhaar. Railway agents will not be able to book tickets for 30 minutes before the start of Tatkal booking.
Which passengers will be affected?
Railways has clearly stated that some passengers will not be affected by this increase. This includes passengers holding monthly passes. Passengers of urban and local trains are also included. Apart from this, the new rates are not going to be applicable on tickets booked before July 1, 2025.
Tatkal tickets will be booked with Aadhaar.
Now, from July 1, Tatkal quota ticket booking will be done only with an Aadhaar card. That is, when a passenger books a Tatkal ticket, it will be necessary to give his Aadhaar number. This will make ticket booking transparent.
