The School Education Department has taken a major step to ensure the accuracy of students’ identity information. This time, updating the Aadhaar Card has been made mandatory for school students. Yes, you heard that right! Recently, the Education Department issued a guideline on this, which has already been sent to all schools in the state.
When to update your Aadhaar card?
According to the government notification, students will need to update their biometrics at two key stages during their school years. The first update will be at the age of 5, and the second update will be at the age of 15. The responsibility for this update process will lie with the respective schools and district school inspectors, and the update will be done free of charge.
Why was this decision taken?
Sources indicate that this step was taken to ensure that students receive the benefits of various government schemes properly, such as the Kanyashree Scheme, Sabuj Saathi Scheme, Scholarships, and other programs. This ensures no student is left out of these benefits. Hence, updating the Aadhaar card has been given special importance.
Urgent update in higher education too
Additionally, linking a phone number with the Aadhaar card has been made mandatory for applying to all India entrance exams like JEE, NEET, and CUET. This decision was made to help students participate in education and competitive exams more effectively.
How can Aadhaar be updated?
According to the new guidelines from the School Education Department, a new QR code has been added. Scanning this code will show a video published by the Aadhaar authorities, providing all the necessary information about Aadhaar updates for school students.
