In a major step toward advancing renewable energy, the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has committed ₹2,500 crore to Madhya Pradesh at the MPGIS 2025 summit. This investment is set to enhance the state’s clean energy capacity and grid stability.
As part of the agreement, SECI has signed an MoU with the Madhya Pradesh government to develop a 200 MW solar power project in Dhar under the CPSU Scheme. In addition, a 1,000 MWh battery storage facility will be set up to ensure efficient energy management and uninterrupted power supply.
With this initiative, Madhya Pradesh is expected to strengthen its position as a renewable energy leader, attracting further investments and contributing to India’s long-term sustainability goals. Experts see this as a significant step toward a greener and more energy-secure future for the state and the country.
The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has announced a substantial investment of ₹2,500 crore in Madhya Pradesh’s renewable energy sector. This initiative includes the development of a 200 MW solar power project in Dhar and a 1,000 MWh battery storage facility, aiming to enhance the state’s green energy infrastructure.
Key Details of the Investment:
Solar Power Project: A 200 MW solar power plant will be established in Dhar, contributing significantly to the state’s renewable energy capacity.
Battery Storage Facility: A 1,000 MWh battery storage system will be developed to support grid stability and energy storage solutions.
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU): SECI has signed an MoU with the Madhya Pradesh government to execute these projects under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Scheme.
Context and Significance:
This investment aligns with Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy capacity. The state has been proactive in promoting solar, wind, and hydro power generation, with notable projects such as the Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Power Project, which has a capacity of 750 MW. The establishment of the 200 MW solar project in Dhar is part of a broader strategy to enhance the state’s renewable energy infrastructure. Additionally, the development of a 1,000 MWh battery storage facility will play a crucial role in addressing the intermittency of renewable energy sources, ensuring a stable and reliable power supply.
This investment underscores SECI’s dedication to supporting India’s renewable energy goals and Madhya Pradesh’s role in the nation’s green energy transition.
