We use an ATM card every day to take out money from the bank. But sometimes, people face a problem — the money gets cut from the account, but no cash comes out of the ATM.
If this happens, don’t panic. Stay calm and find out why it happened. Then take the next steps.
There can be many reasons for this problem. For example
1. Technical Problem
Sometimes, the ATM machine faces a technical issue. Then, the money does not come out, but it gets deducted from your account. In such cases, the money usually comes back automatically within a few hours or days. So, there’s no need to worry.
2. No Cash in the ATM
Sometimes, there is no money left in the ATM. When you try to withdraw, the transaction fails, but the amount still gets deducted. Don’t panic — in this case too, the bank will auto-credit your money back soon.
3. Chances of Fraud
In some cases, fraud or misuse can happen without your knowledge. Money may be deducted even though it didn’t come out. Always stay alert and check your account regularly.
What to Do If Money Is Deducted but Not Received
1. Call Customer Care:
Call your bank’s 24-hour helpline and register a complaint. The bank will give you a complaint number — keep it safe for tracking.
2. Visit the Bank Branch:
If the issue isn’t solved through customer care, visit your nearest bank branch. Explain your problem and get a tracking number from them.
3. Meet the Bank Manager:
If the problem continues, talk directly to the branch manager. He will take your case seriously and help resolve it.
4. Contact RBI or Ombudsman:
If the issue is not fixed within 30 days, you can file a complaint with the RBI or the bank ombudsman. You will likely get your money back soon.
