Following e-Aadhaar and free biometric updates, the central government has taken another major decision on Aadhaar cards. UIDAI CEO Bhuvaneshwar Kumar said that a new Aadhaar app will be launched soon. The demo testing of the app is complete and successful. The mobile app is expected to launch anytime and will give users access to many Aadhaar-related services.
UIDAI CEO Bhuvneshwar Kumar said that after the new mobile app is launched, people will not need to carry a photocopy of their Aadhaar card. The app, called dks, will launch in two to three months. It will have a mobile update feature and an identity sharing feature. Details will be shared only if the user allows.
The mobile number linked to Aadhaar cannot be changed in the app. For this, users must visit an Aadhaar center. The number will be updated using biometric checks. To check a fake Aadhaar card, a QR code is printed on it. By scanning the QR code, correct details can be seen.
Free Biometric Update
Now, biometric updates for Aadhaar are free. Earlier, it cost ₹50. Children and teenagers do not need to pay for new Aadhaar registration or biometric updates. This free service is for ages 5–7 years and 15–17 years.
To update Aadhaar biometrics, visit the nearest Aadhaar center. You can find the address on the UIDAI website or the mAadhaar app. At the center, fill the form, give fingerprints and iris scan, and your biometrics will be updated.
