After the announcement of giving ₹2500 to women under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana in Delhi, BJP President Virendra Sachdeva shared an important update. He said that a budget of ₹5000 crore has been set aside for this scheme. Work is going on to prepare the guidelines for how the money will be given. The delay is happening because irregularities were found in similar schemes run by the previous government.
Many months have passed since the elections ended, but the promised ₹2500 has still not reached the women of Delhi. There is no update on registration or the online application process. In an exclusive conversation, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said that preparations are underway and the process will begin soon.
The promise to send ₹2500 every month to the accounts of needy women was made by the BJP before the elections. It was clearly mentioned in their manifesto. But even after so much time, the process has not started. Because of this delay, opposition parties are continuously raising questions and targeting the BJP.
What Did Virendra Sachdeva Say?
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva joined a media conclave on Friday. In a special conversation with a reporter, he shared updates about various schemes in Delhi. He also spoke about the Mahila Samridhi Yojana and said that a budget of ₹5000 crore has been set for the scheme. Work is still going on to prepare the proper guidelines for how the money will be given to the beneficiaries.
Irregularities Found in Old Schemes
Virendra Sachdeva claimed that many government schemes under the previous Aam Aadmi Party government had serious problems. He said this is one of the reasons why the BJP is taking time to launch new schemes. In a review, it was found that over 83,000 ineligible women were taking widow pension in Delhi. When records were checked, no official data was found for them. This raised a question—where did ₹200 crore go?
He also said there were irregularities in the Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana. While the approved budget was ₹15 crore, the spending shown was ₹145 crore. Sachdeva said that the BJP wants to avoid such scams and ensure that money goes only to the right people. He added that Delhi women will get good news soon regarding the Mahila Samridhi Yojana.
Will There Be Good News on 15 August?
So far, there is no official update about the start of the Mahila Samridhi Yojana. But many believe that the Chief Minister of Delhi may make an announcement on August 15. As per the plan, families with an annual income below ₹2.5 lakh may get the benefit of this ₹2500 monthly scheme.
Meetings are being held to decide the final rules. In one meeting, a question was asked—if there are two women in one family, who will get the benefit? It is being said that a possible solution is to treat the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law as separate families, so both can receive the benefit.
