What is the LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana?
Launched by the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), the LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana aims to empower women financially by connecting them to the insurance sector. Under this scheme, women become authorized LIC agents and sell insurance policies by providing information about insurance plans to people. In return, they receive income in the form of commission, which increases with experience and performance.

Who can apply?
To apply for this scheme, the female candidate must be at least 18 years old and not more than 70 years old. The age is calculated based on the date of application. A minimum educational qualification of 10th pass is mandatory. This provision has been made so that more women can avail themselves of this opportunity.

Who is not eligible?
Certain categories are excluded from eligibility for the LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana. Close relatives of existing LIC employees or agents, such as spouses, parents, children, siblings, cannot apply for this scheme. Retired LIC employees, former agents, and current agents are also not considered eligible for this scheme.

Required Documents for Application
During the application process, candidates need to upload documents related to their age proof, address proof, and educational qualifications. Self-attested copies of all documents, along with a recent passport-sized photograph, must be attached to the online form. How is the selection process conducted?
To become a Bima Sakhi, the candidate must pass the pre-recruitment examination prescribed by IRDAI. After successfully passing the examination, the documents are verified. Following this, the candidate is called for an interview at the relevant LIC branch office. The interview assesses the candidate’s communication skills, understanding, and suitability. Upon selection, an agency code is issued by LIC.

The entire application process to become a Bima Sakhi is online. The candidate needs to visit the official LIC website, licindia.in/test2, and click on the “Click here for Bima Sakhi” option. They then need to fill in details such as their name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, and address. If the candidate knows an LIC agent, Development Officer, or employee, their details should also be entered. Finally, the captcha needs to be filled in, and the form submitted.
