ITR Deadline 2025: If you are an income taxpayer, then this news can be special for you. According to reports, the deadline for filing Income Tax Return (ITR) is expected to be extended if the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) accepts the appeal of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI). GCCI has stated in a letter that this time the process of ITR filing was delayed as the necessary utilities and forms were issued about three months late. Even by the beginning of August, many necessary forms were not available, due to which taxpayers and chartered accountants did not get enough time to prepare.

The government extended the date
This year, the government has already extended the deadline for filing ITR for non-audit taxpayers from 31 July 2025 to 15 September 2025. However, GCCI says that this relief was not fully effective due to the delay in forms and utilities. The real problem is that people did not get a chance to prepare the documents on time.
Change in utility
GCCI also said that due to frequent utility updates and weak internet speed in many areas, taxpayers and professionals are facing a lot of problems. For this reason, they have requested the CBDT to extend the last date for filing ITR and submitting the tax audit report.

Know which forms have been released
For information, let us tell you that this time, various ITR forms have been released. In this, ITR-1 to ITR-4 were released between May to July 2025. Talking about ITR-5, it was released on 8 August 2025. Talking about the ITR-6 Excel Utility, it was released on 15 August 2025. Talking about ITR-7, it has not been released yet. Whereas audit forms 3CA-3CD and 3CB-3CD were released on 29 July 2025.
