IRCTC Blocked 2.5 Crore User IDs

IRCTC is the biggest and most trusted website in India for booking train tickets. To book tickets online, you must have a working IRCTC ID. Now, IRCTC has blocked about 2.5 crore user IDs. These accounts were fake or used for wrong booking tricks. This action was taken between January and May 2025 because of scams in Tatkal booking and misuse by bots and agents.

How to Know If Your IRCTC ID Is Active or Not

To book tickets, your IRCTC ID should be active. But many people do not know why they cannot log in. Maybe the password is wrong, or maybe the ID is closed. Here is a simple way to check.

First, go to the IRCTC website (www.irctc.co.in) using your mobile or computer. Click on the “Login” button and enter your user ID, password, and captcha. If you log in successfully, your ID is active.

If you see a message like “Invalid credentials” or “User ID does not exist”, then your ID may be blocked.

Try to Reset Your Password

If you cannot log in, click on “Forgot Password”. Enter your user ID and mobile number or email. If you get an OTP, it means your ID still exists. You can reset your password and try logging in again.

Sometimes, IRCTC may ask you to confirm your mobile number or email after logging in. If you see such a message, complete the verification. If you don’t, your ID may stop working.

How to Reactivate a Closed IRCTC ID

If your ID is blocked, send a request email to IRCTC. Write your user ID, registered mobile number, and email ID. In most cases, IRCTC will activate your ID again in 3 to 5 working days. If it still does not work, you can make a new account on IRCTC and use that for booking tickets.
