Indigo Flight Cancellation: The issues for passengers of the country’s largest domestic airline, IndiGo, seem to be far from over. Controlled by Rahul Bhatia, the airline cancelled over 560 of its daily flights on Monday across six major metropolitan cities, impacting lakhs of travelers. Reports from aviation sources indicate that Bengaluru airport alone saw 150 IndiGo flights cancelled.
Flights affected for the second consecutive week
Since last Tuesday, changes implemented by the Civil Aviation Regulator have put a significant strain on IndiGo’s operations. The airline’s entire system has been thrown into chaos due to the ongoing cancellations of hundreds of flights. They are having a tough time getting back to normal operations. This marks the second week in a row that IndiGo flights have faced major disruptions, leading to widespread frustration among passengers.
On a brighter note, IndiGo saw some relief on Sunday. The airline managed to operate 1,650 flights that day, and even though 650 flights were cancelled, their on-time performance improved to 79.9 percent. Unfortunately, the situation took a turn for the worse again on Monday.
Sources revealed that IndiGo had to cancel about 560 of its 2,300 daily flights, primarily from six metropolitan airports. The Civil Aviation Ministry had previously estimated that the airline would cancel 500 flights and operate 1,802 on Monday, but the actual numbers were much higher than expected.
