Indian Railways : Due to the growing number of travelers ahead of the New Year, Indian Railways has introduced a significant relief measure for passengers. Three special trains will operate from Mumbai to Goa, Thiruvananthapuram, and Mangaluru from late December through early January. These trains are designed to accommodate the rising demand during the tourist season and ensure a smooth travel experience for passengers.
A special train will run daily on the Goa route
To assist those heading to Goa, the CSMT-Karmali special train will operate every day.
Departure: CSMT at 12:20 am
Arrival: Karmali at 1:30 pm
From December 19, 2025, to January 5, 2026, the return journey will see the train leaving Karmali at 2:15 pm and arriving in Mumbai at 3:45 am the following morning. The train will make stops at several key stations, including Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Pen, Roha, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kankavli, Kudal, and Thivim. Ticket bookings for these trains commenced on December 8.
Special arrangements for South India as well
The LTT-Thiruvananthapuram special train has provided relief for passengers wishing to travel to South India during the holiday season.
Departure from LTT: Every Thursday at 4 pm
Arrival at Thiruvananthapuram: The next day at 11:30 pm
Service dates: December 18, December 25, and January 1, 2026
The return train will depart from Thiruvananthapuram every Saturday at 4:20 pm and will arrive at LTT at 1:00 am on the third day. The route will cover Madgaon, Karwar, Udupi, Mangaluru Junction, Kannur, Ernakulam Town, and other significant stations along the Kerala-Konkan route.
A special train will also be available for Mangaluru. Additional trains to Mangaluru will greatly benefit passengers.
Departure from LTT: Every Tuesday at 4 PM
Arrival in Mangaluru: The next day at 10:05 AM
