Let us tell you that the main gate of the British fort, Fort St. George, was built in the 17th century, was called Church Gate, and Churchgate station was named after it. The gate was demolished in the 1860s to develop Mumbai. After this, the station was built at this place in 1870.

Railway service was started here in 1855. Churchgate station was first shown as a station in 1870. The first station was Colaba, but in 1931, the railway line was removed, and Churchgate was made the last station.

There were a total of 4 platforms at this station. By 2010, these platforms were extended according to the length of a 15-coach train. There are four electric tracks here, which handle the high frequency of Mumbai’s local train service.

No long-distance train starts or terminate from Churchgate station, but it is the terminus of local trains of the Western Line. More than 819 trains pass through this station every day. The first train from this station leaves for Virar at 04:15 am, and the last train leaves for Borivali at 1:00 pm.

Now it is a very big railway station. Many facilities have been provided for the passengers here. Now people can sit and wait here, proper toilets and food stalls have been set up. A big food court was opened here in the year 2019.
