This is a central government scheme. Vishwakarmas are registered free of cost through Common Service Centres using the biometric-based PM Vishwakarma Portal. Artisans and craftsmen are recognized through PM Vishwakarma Certificate and an ID card.

Details of PM Vishwakarma

PM Vishwakarma Yojana offers collateral-free loan up to Rs 1 lakh (first installment) and Rs 2 lakh (second installment) with a concessional interest rate of 5%. The Government of India provides interest subsidy up to 8%. The scheme provides skill upgradation methods to the craftsmen including infrastructure and upgradation training, toolkit incentive of Rs 15000 and incentives for digital transactions and marketing support.

Who can apply

It is specifically targeted at the MSME sector. It is open to everyone from school dropouts to M.Tech degree holders. Who are the people involved

The scheme covers artisans and craftsmen engaged in carpentry, boat builders, weapon makers, blacksmiths, hammer and tool kit makers, besides locksmiths, goldsmiths, potters, sculptors (sculptors, stone carvers), stone breakers, cobbler/shoemaker, masons, basket/mat/broom makers/coir weavers, doll and toy makers (traditional), barbers, garland makers, washermen, tailors and fishing net manufacturing.

What are the benefits available under the scheme?
  • If you join the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, you are given a few days of training which is given to make you better at your work. During this training, you are given a stipend of Rs 500 per day till the training continues.
  • There is also a provision to give Rs 15,000 to the beneficiaries to buy the toolkit.
