Aadhaar Card… It’s a very important document to have. Right now everybody has, this document in India. An Aadhaar card is essential for various tasks, whether it’s banking, school admissions, or any government-related activities. It’s needed for all of these processes.

Your Aadhaar card holds a lot of personal information, and sometimes we might input incorrect details or the information may become outdated. In such cases, the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) allows you to make updates. According to UIDAI, many details on your Aadhaar card can be modified, but some cannot be changed at all.

Here’s what you can update:

Address – There’s no limit on how many times you can update your address on your Aadhaar card. This is particularly helpful for those who rent in large cities, as they may frequently change their residence. Any Indian citizen can update their Aadhaar card address as often as needed.

Mobile Number – It’s crucial to have your mobile number linked to your Aadhaar card. If you don’t, you might encounter various issues later on. You can update your mobile number as many times as you wish, as UIDAI has no restrictions on this. Just ensure that the mobile number linked is current to avoid any complications.

Name – You can change the name on your Aadhaar card, but only twice according to UIDAI guidelines.

Date of Birth – If you’ve mistakenly entered the wrong or incomplete date of birth, you can change it, but again, only twice.

Gender – Be careful when entering your gender on the Aadhaar card, as this detail cannot be updated once submitted. UIDAI assigns a unique 12-digit number to each individual, which is recorded on your Aadhaar card. Additionally, you can now take advantage of the e-Aadhaar card service.
