UPI Auto Pay : UPI, which makes digital payments easy, has become smarter now. Do you also forget to cancel or delete autopay? Money is deducted from your account, after that you remember that you had to cancel autopay. The UPI AutoPay feature launched by NPCI i.e. National Payments Corporation of India saves you from making repeated payments like electricity bill, Netflix subscription, EMI or insurance premium every month. Through this, you can set up automatic payment by giving approval once, which gets deducted automatically at the scheduled time.
What is UPI AutoPay?
UPI AutoPay is a feature in which you set e-Mandate online permission. After this, the payment is automatically deducted from your bank account. You can use this service on any UPI app like PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, BHIM. This service works every day, week, month or at any fixed time interval.
Where is it used?
You can use it for subscription payments on OTT platforms like Netflix, Hotstar.
Mobile or Electricity bill
Loan EMI or insurance premium
Mutual Fund SIP
Gym membership or tuition fees
How to cancel AutoPay Mandate?
If you want to stop an autopayment, you can cancel it very easily.
Open your UPI app (like PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm).
Go to the Mandates or AutoPay section in UPI settings
View active mandates. Click on the one you want to close.
Press the Revoke or Cancel button. That payment will be stopped immediately
Can UPI AutoPay payments be reversed?
No, once an AutoPay payment is deducted, it cannot be reversed like normal UPI transactions. In case of a mistake or payment is made to the wrong trader, you will have to directly contact the same trader and ask for a refund or lodge a complaint with your UPI app or bank. Therefore, it is important that you keep checking your AutoPay Mandates from time to time, and cancel those that are not needed.
