There is big relief news for the NPS (New Pension Scheme) employees of Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board. The Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu government of the state has taken a historic decision to give dearness allowance (DA) to the employees equal to the Center.
The Electricity Board management has also issued orders in this regard. This decision will directly benefit about 6000 employees of the state. However, no decision has been taken by the state government yet on implementing the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), but this step is a positive change for the employees.
NPS employees will now get a DA equal to the Center

The employees coming under NPS (New Pension Scheme) working in Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) will now get dearness allowance (DA) on the lines of the central government! According to the order of the board, after the increase of 2% (2%), now NPS employees will get the benefit of 55% (55%) DA instead of 53% (53%) DA.
In the future, as soon as the Central Government increases DA for NPS employees, it will automatically be implemented in the Himachal Electricity Board as well. This policy ensures long-term financial security for the employees.
6000 employees will get a benefit
The office order issued by the State Electricity Board management states that parity with the benefits given to the Central Government counterparts has been ensured. The employees of the board who are part of the NPS scheme will now get DA at the rates approved by the Central Government. The revised DA will be effective from the dates specified in the Central Government memorandum of April 2025.

This policy will increase the ‘take-home salary’ of eligible employees and will have a positive impact on their pension contribution under NPS. Let us tell you that at present, there are 7000 such employees, who were before the year 2003 and are given the benefit of the OPS (Old Pension Scheme) and get allowances from the State Government.
There are 6000 employees in NPS, who have been demanding OPS for a long time, which has not been fulfilled yet despite many assurances. This situation may create some discontent among the employees, but the increase in DA is a big step.
