Driving License- It is necessary to follow the rules of the road to drive a car or any kind of vehicle all over the world, these rules require vehicle documents, pollution card, driving license etc. Driver license is the most important and basic document among all these, without which you cannot drive your vehicle on the road. In such a situation, if your driving license has expired, then get it renewed immediately.
While it is common for your driving license to expire over time, it is important to renew it. Letting it expire for a long time can lead to your driving license being cancelled, which can cause unnecessary trouble. You may have to pay a fine and even have to apply for a new license again and go through all the processes that are required to make a new license. Let’s know how to renew it-
1.Grace period for renewal
In India, a driving license is issued for a fixed period. Once its validity expires, you are given a grace period of 30 days to renew it. The renewal fee is Rs 400 if renewed within 30 days. If you renew after 30 days, you may have to pay a late fee of up to Rs 1500.
2.Validity of the license
Under the Motor Vehicles Act, a driving license in India is valid for a limited period. Initially, a driving license is valid for 40 years and after that it has to be renewed every 10 years. When you turn 50, the renewal period is reduced to 5 years. If you do not renew your license within a year of the expiry of the validity, it will be cancelled and you will have to go through the entire process of applying for a new license.
How to renew driving license
1. First of all go to the website of the Transport Department. You have to go to the official website of the Transport Department of your state.
2. Click on Apply Online. If you want to apply online, then you have to click on this option.
3. Click on Services Related to Driving License.
4. Select your state, which will be given in the list.
5. Click on “Select Services on Driving License”. A new page will open with various services related to driving license.
6. Fill the application form. Complete the application form with the required details like your date of birth, license number and other required information.
7. Select the Renew option. The Renew option will be given from the list of available services.
8. Upload the required documents. Like upload your recent photo and signature.
9. Pay online. The payment process has to be completed for the renewal fee.
