New Delhi: The central government has given a big boost to everyone, from common people to businessmen. The big decisions taken in the GST Council meeting before Diwali have increased enthusiasm among everyone. This will provide relief to farmers and small businessmen from inflation. The number of GST slabs has now been reduced to only two. The GST slab is going to be limited to per cent and per cent.

Not only that, but many essential items have been excluded from the GST slab. Meaning now no tax will have to be paid on many things. This includes things like roti, cheese, milk and butter. PM Narendra Modi had announced GST changes in his address on the occasion of Independence Day.

Big decision of the central government

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has given information about some big changes after the meeting held. She said that, along with the items used daily, medicine education-related items have been excluded from tax. Meaning they have not been kept in any tax slab.

There are also many things on which it has been decided to reduce GST. Along with this, the GST rate on some parts of the tractor has been reduced from 18 to 5 per cent. This means that an earlier 12 per cent tax had to be paid on the tractor, but it has been announced to reduce it to only 5 per cent.

These food items are GST-free.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made many food items GST-free. She has also shared the list of GST-free food items. Earlier, GST of 5 to 18 per cent was levied on these things. But now they have been included in zero GST. These include ready-to-eat roti, ready-to-eat paratha, all types of bread, pizza, paneer, UHT milk and chenna.

Educational items are also tax-free.

The government has also given a big relief to the students from GST. All the educational items have been excluded from the scope of GST. These include pencil, eraser, cutter, notebook, globe, map and practice book, graph book, etc., and have been made GST-free. Along with this, there has been a big change regarding medicines and health insurance.
