GST Council 56th Meeting: The two-day meeting of the GST Council, chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, September 3. In this meeting, a decision can be taken to make many changes in the tax slab. If media reports are to be believed, essential decisions regarding the GST cut can be made in this meeting. This meeting is scheduled to take place between September 3 and 4 in New Delhi at 11 am. This meeting will be held in New Delhi, and the GST Council meeting typically takes place in Vigyan Bhavan. On which items will ‘0’ tax be imposed?
According to media reports, there are going to be 47 items in which zero tax can be imposed. You will not need to pay tax on these items. However, this has not been confirmed yet.
Zero tax can be imposed on such items that are used daily. If media reports are to be believed, there will be no tax on essential food items like paneer, pizza bread, khakhra, chapati etc. or a 5% tax can be levied. If media reports are to be believed, there will be no tax on stationery, medical equipment and medicines or a 5% tax can be levied. On the other hand, GST charges can be increased on items that are harmful.
Apart from this, taxes will be levied on items such as petroleum, gold, and diamonds, as before. However, this has not been confirmed by the government.
