FASTag– If you are a FASTag user, then this article is made for you. The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is considering expanding the scope of Fastag payment. The ministry plans to use it for charging electric vehicles, petrol pumps, parking and insurance payments as well. This will further increase the use of Fastag and provide convenience to the people.

It is being told that the ministry is working on ways to implement this scheme. In this regard, recently the Indian Highway Management Company (IHMCL), working under the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), held a meeting with fintech companies.

In this, the new use of the Fastag system was discussed in detail. After the meeting, the ministry said that they want to know how Fastag can be further propagated. How to take care of security in it and how to address complaints. Suggestions were also taken from major fintech companies in the meeting.

The objective of the government

According to the ministry, the government’s aim through this initiative is to create a digital network through Fastag, where vehicle owners can get all travel and transport related facilities on a single platform in a cashless, fast and secure way. These services include toll payment, parking-charging fee and petrol pump and insurance payment through new technology.

Emphasis on toll payment without stopping

Along with this, the ministry wants to promote multi-lane seamless toll payment. This is a technology in which there is no need to stop the vehicle at the toll booth. The cameras read the fast tag and the vehicle number and the toll is deducted automatically. Union Road Secretary V. Umashankar says that the government’s goal is to make toll collection completely cashless. This will not only be convenient, but will also save people’s time and will be fraud-free and error-free. Fintech companies will bring new technology in this and the government will help in implementing it.

Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said in this regard that Fastag has a huge potential not only for toll but also for making travel easier across the country. He said that in collaboration with fintech companies and others, the ministry wants to make Fastag a strong platform so that people get better facilities and transport services are improved.
