Govt scheme – Credits Rs 5,000 to 1.31 Crore Women

Kalaignar scheme: State govt takes huge step before the election. On Friday, Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister MK Stalin shared that women will get Rs 5,000 through the Kalaignar Women’s Rights Scheme. He emphasized that this initiative reflects his government’s dedication to supporting women.

Stalin took to the social media platform X to announce that the funds for February, March, and April have been disbursed. This includes Rs 3,000 each month as support and an additional Rs 2,000 as a ‘summer special’ bonus. He mentioned that this money will be directly deposited into the accounts of 13.1 million women.

Stalin stated that this is his commitment to the women of Tamil Nadu and that no one can hinder it. He accused others of trying to delay the funds for three months under the guise of elections, but assured that his government will stand firm.

He characterized the scheme as a key feature of the government’s ‘Dravidian Model,’ and noted that under the upcoming ‘Dravidian Model 2.0,’ the monthly support for women will rise from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000. This announcement comes just before the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections this year, with the government prioritizing women’s welfare schemes in its election strategy.

Schemes that directly benefit women have been a guarantee of victory since 2023. It began with the Ladli Behen Yojana in Madhya Pradesh. Subsequently, similar schemes have been used to win elections in several other states, including Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Delhi, and Bihar. Now, MK Stalin is also attempting to win elections by introducing a scheme that benefits women. His template closely resembles that of Hemant Soren, who first launched the scheme and promised to increase the funding if elected. He won the election with a majority and fulfilled his promise.
