Last year, the government launched LIC’s Bima Sakhi Scheme to empower women and make them self-reliant. This scheme also provides an earning opportunity for women who have passed the 10th grade. What is LIC’s Bima Sakhi Yojana?
The Bima Sakhi Yojana is a scheme aimed at empowering women by providing them with the opportunity to become LIC agents. Under this scheme, 10th-pass women will receive special training to work as LIC agents. The government aims to train 2 lakh women over the next 3 years. After completing their training, women can work as LIC agents and, upon graduation, may even have the chance to become a Development Officer in LIC.
Earnings During Training
Women trained under the Bima Sakhi Yojana will receive a stipend during their training.
- In Year 1, they will receive Rs 7,000 per month.
- In Year 2, they will receive Rs 6,000 per month.
- In Year 3, they will receive Rs 5,000 per month.
In total, women will earn more than Rs 2 lakh over the three years. Additionally, they can boost their income through commissions.
Eligibility for Application
Only women can apply for this scheme. To apply, they must have a 10th pass certificate (Matriculation/High School). The age limit for applicants is between 18 to 70 years. Eligible women will undergo 3 years of training by the government. After completing the training, they will work as insurance agents.
