What is the Ashirwad Yojana?

The Ashirwad Yojana of the Punjab government is a social welfare scheme whose main objective is to help daughters from economically weaker families with their marriage expenses. Under this scheme, eligible families are given financial assistance of Rs. 51,000 for their daughter’s marriage. This ensures that poor families can marry their daughters with dignity.

Who can benefit from the scheme?

The daughter’s age must be the legally prescribed age for marriage, i.e., 18 years. In addition, the family’s annual income should not exceed Rs. 32,790 as determined by the government. Under this scheme, a family can avail the benefit for a maximum of two daughters, so that the assistance reaches as many needy families as possible.
