Ration Card Update

Ration Card Update: E-KYC, or Aadhaar seeding, has been made mandatory for all beneficiaries receiving rations under the National Food Security Act. The Food and Consumer Protection Department of the Bihar government has clarified that all ration cardholders in the state must complete their e-KYC by December 30th. The main objective is to ensure the supply of rations to genuine and eligible beneficiaries and to bring transparency to the public distribution system.

Government Launches Special Campaign

The state government is running a special campaign from December 17th to December 30th. During this period, special camps have been organized at fair price shops across the state, where e-KYC is being conducted for ration cardholders. The department has warned that if any beneficiary fails to complete e-KYC within this period, their eligibility may be affected, and they may face difficulties in receiving rations in the future.

Facility for Beneficiaries Residing Outside the State

The government has also clarified that ration cardholders who are outside Bihar for livelihood or other reasons do not need to return to the state. E-KYC is now available across the country. Such beneficiaries can get their e-KYC done at the nearest fair price shop or public distribution system shop at their current place of residence.

Data Verification Underway

The data of the suspected ration card management system shared by the Government of India is also being verified. The Food and Consumer Protection Department has instructed all Sub-Divisional Officers to physically verify the suspected data available in their respective areas and ensure its quick resolution. Special camps have been organized from December 17th to December 30th for this purpose.

E-KYC Process

E-KYC is a technical process in which the identity of beneficiaries is verified through their biometric data—such as fingerprints or iris scans—against the information available in Aadhaar. This will help identify and remove fake or ineligible beneficiaries from the system.
