MP Workers DA Hike: Good news for lakhs of workers in Madhya Pradesh! The Mohan Yadav government has increased the variable dearness allowance given along with salaries. The new rates have been implemented from October 1, 2024, and workers will also receive arrears. The Labor Department has issued orders regarding this change.

This increase is based on a 2-point rise in the average Consumer Price Index from January to June 2024. Earlier, the minimum wage for workers was also increased, and its benefits will apply from March 1, 2025. Recently, the Indore High Court gave an important verdict on a petition challenging the minimum wage. Following this decision, the Labor Department has now raised the dearness allowance after increasing the minimum wage.

How Much Will Workers Receive?

As per the Labor Department’s order, from October 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, workers will receive a dearness allowance (DA) of Rs 2,275 per month, which includes an additional Rs 50. This amounts to Rs 87.50 per day.

  • Unskilled workers will receive an honorarium of Rs 9,575, along with a dearness allowance of Rs 2,275.
  • Semi-skilled workers will receive an honorarium of Rs 10,571, along with a dearness allowance of Rs 2,275.
  • Skilled workers will receive Rs 12,294, along with a dearness allowance of Rs 2,275.
  • Highly skilled workers will receive Rs 13,919, along with a dearness allowance of Rs 2,275.

Minimum Wage for Daily Wage Workers Increased

Good news for daily wage workers as well! The Labor Commissioner of Indore has issued orders for the payment of minimum wages for daily wage workers from April 1 to December 30, 2024.

This decision will benefit around 10 lakh daily wage workers in the state. As a result, their salary will increase by Rs 2,225 per month starting from April 2024.

  1. Unskilled workers will have a monthly salary of Rs 11,800.
  2. Semi-skilled workers will receive Rs 12,796 per month.
  3. Skilled workers will earn Rs 14,519 per month.
  4. Highly skilled workers will earn Rs 16,144 per month.

Additionally, workers will receive extra pay for four Sunday holidays every month. The orders for the increase in salary by Rs 2,275 per month (or Rs 87.50 per day) will be effective from October 1, 2024.
