PM E-Drive Scheme- Are you also thinking of buying a truck? Then I have great news for you. The government will provide you with a subsidy of several lakhs of taka for purchasing a truck. Yes, you heard it right. After electric buses, the government will now also provide subsidy on the purchase of electric trucks. Increasing number of e-trucks will reduce carbon emissions. E-trucks can reduce pollution by up to 35 percent compared to diesel trucks.
Although the e-truck will cause zero pollution due to running on battery, but the production of electricity used to charge the battery causes carbon emissions. The Ministry of Heavy Industries has made this calculation accordingly. Under the PM E-Drive Scheme, subsidy will be given on the purchase of e-trucks and Rs 500 crore has been allocated for this purpose. The government will give subsidy on the purchase of 5600 e-trucks. This subsidy will be from Rs 2.7 lakh to Rs 9.7 lakh. The two-year-long PM E-Drive Scheme is ending on March 31 next year.
Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy said that out of 5600 trucks, 1100 e-trucks will be operated in Delhi and an amount of Rs 100 crore will be given as subsidy for e-trucks registered in Delhi. This subsidy will be given on first come, first serve basis. Kumaraswamy said that Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has decided to deploy 150 e-trucks at its various locations in the next two years. To get subsidy on the purchase of e-truck, it will be necessary to scrap your old truck.
You will have to scrap the old truck at a scrap center authorized by the public transport department and obtain a certificate and the subsidy amount will be given on that basis. Currently, companies like Volvo Eicher, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland are manufacturing e-trucks in the country.
