Madhya Pradesh Government’s Initiative

The Madhya Pradesh government has implemented the Inter-Caste Marriage Promotion Scheme to promote social equality and reduce caste discrimination. This scheme has brought relief to couples who challenge traditional societal norms by choosing to marry outside their caste. The government believes that financial support will also lead to greater social acceptance of such marriages.

Financial Assistance of ₹2 Lakh

Under this scheme, eligible couples are provided with a total assistance amount of ₹2 lakh. This amount is transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account. The objective is to help manage the initial expenses after marriage and make the couple self-reliant so that they can plan their future without any financial pressure.

Eligibility Criteria for the Scheme

To avail of this scheme, certain essential conditions have been laid down. It is mandatory for either the bride or the groom to belong to a Scheduled Caste, while the other spouse must belong to another caste. The marriage must also be legally registered. Applications without a valid marriage certificate will not be accepted.

Online Application Process

The government has kept the application process completely digital so that people do not have to visit government offices. Interested couples can apply through the Madhya Pradesh government’s Scheduled Caste Development Portal. While applying, a marriage certificate, identity proof, and bank account details need to be uploaded.
