Free LPG Cylinder: Good news for people. This Diwali is going to be special for millions of women in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government has given a big gift to the women associated with the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The government has announced that all eligible beneficiary women will receive a free gas cylinder this festival. This facility is being provided under the UP Free Gas Cylinder Scheme. Ujjwala consumers receive a free refilled LPG cylinder on both Diwali and Holi. This year, the Diwali process has already begun in October.
What is the UP Free Gas Cylinder Scheme?
This scheme is specifically designed for women enrolled in the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Under this scheme, the government provides one free cylinder to eligible women during festivals. Although consumers must first pay the cylinder’s cost to the agency, this amount is later transferred to their bank accounts as a subsidy. This means women receive a full refund for the cylinder.
It is necessary to do e-KYC
To benefit from this scheme, consumers must complete e-KYC. Women can complete e-KYC online by visiting the Ujjwala Yojana website and selecting their gas company, Indane, HP, or Bharat Gas. Those without internet access can also visit their nearest gas agency to complete the process. Pending e-KYC may delay subsidy payments.
Who can apply?
Women who are not yet enrolled in the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana can apply. Under the scheme, eligible women receive a free gas connection, regulator, pipe, and first filled cylinder. They also receive a subsidy of ₹300 per cylinder for up to nine cylinders per year.
This scheme is available to women aged 18 years and older who are SC, ST, BPL cardholders, Extremely Backward Classes, or beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana. Women from families falling under the 14-point poverty line are also eligible.
