The government has given a big relief news to the general public. The date for the free facility to update information online on the Aadhaar card (Aadhaar Update Online) has been extended. Earlier the last date for updating the Aadhaar card for free was 14 June 2025, which has now been extended for a full year. That is, people can now make changes in their Aadhaar online for free till 14 June 2026.

If the name or address on your Aadhaar card is wrong or there has been any change recently, then now you do not need to panic. UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has extended the free facility of updating documents on an Aadhaar card for one year.
Now you can update your identity-related document (Proof of Identity – PoI) and address-related document (Proof of Address – PoA) online without any charge till 14 June 2026. Earlier this facility was till June 2025, but now it has been extended by 1 more year.
Who will get the benefit of this facility
This increase in the time limit will provide great relief to all those people whose information needs to be updated in Aadhaar. Especially:
Those whose name has changed after marriage.
Those who have shifted to a new place or whose address has changed.
Those whose address or any other information related to identity has been entered incorrectly and want to get it corrected.
This is a great opportunity to keep your Aadhaar details completely accurate and up-to-date, which is mandatory for government services and other important tasks.
You will have to go to the Aadhaar center for these things
There is some information for which you will have to go to the Aadhaar Seva Kendra. If you want to update your mobile number, email ID, biometric details, or photo, then for this you will have to go to the Aadhaar center. There you can update the information by paying a prescribed fee of ₹50.
How to update Aadhaar card online
Updating your Aadhaar card online is very easy. Follow these steps:
First of all, go to myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in.
Log in using your Aadhaar number and OTP (One Time Password).
Upload Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) documents. Make sure the documents are in JPEG, PNG, or PDF format and their maximum size is 2 MB.
Submit your request and note down the 14-digit URN number (Update Request Number). This will help in tracking the status of your update.
Once the update is successful, you can download your updated Aadhaar card.
A special way to update the address
If you want to update only your address, follow these steps:
Click on “Proceed to Update Address”
Enter your new address correctly.
Upload the required documents related to the new address (like electricity bill, bank statement, rent agreement, etc.).
Submit your request and don’t forget to note down the URN number.
