Do you also want the right price for your crop? So big news for you. The government’s e-NAM scheme is getting the farmers the best price for their produce. The Maharashtra government has recently taken a big step, due to which agricultural produce markets have now become even more convenient and transparent. Know how by joining the e-NAM portal, you can increase your earnings by selling your crop anywhere in the country.
Major change in the APMC Act in Maharashtra
The Maharashtra government has taken an important step to provide farmers with a fair and correct price for their agricultural produce. The government has approved amendments to the Maharashtra Agricultural Produce Marketing (Development and Regulation) Act, 1963. The main objective of this change is to eliminate the obstacles in agricultural trade between mandis and between states. Earlier, there was no provision for a single integrated license under ‘e-NAM’, due to which this online trade was not completely possible.

What are ‘Nationally Designated Mandis’
As per the provisions of the Central Government’s ‘Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing (Operation and Facilitation) Act, 2017 (Model Act)’, those big Mandi Samitis of Maharashtra will be declared as ‘Nationally Designated Mandis’, where agricultural produce comes from at least two other states. The government will have direct control over these mandis, which will make the decision-making and marketing process faster and easier. This amendment will bring transparency and efficiency in the process of trading in the mandis.
New step for transparency in mandis
Another important decision has been taken in the cabinet meeting: A separate cadre of secretaries will be created for the agricultural produce market committees. These secretaries will work directly under the control of the government and will act as a link between the Mandi Samiti and the government. This will enable better control over the mandis. The salary of these secretaries will be paid from the amount collected from supervision fees.

What is the benefit of the e-NAM portal to farmers
The government says that the e-NAM scheme allows farmers to sell their produce directly to buyers without middlemen. It gives farmers higher prices and transparency in trade. This platform gives farmers access to wider markets, real information on prices, and an online payment facility, so that they can get money on time.
Growing network of e-NAM
Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Ram Nath Thakur said in the Rajya Sabha that the e-NAM portal has become a big support for farmers across the country. The figures till June 30, 2025, are shocking. So far, 1522 mandis have been connected to this portal. More than 1.79 crore farmers have registered on it, while more than 2.67 lakh traders and 4,518 Farmer-Producer Organizations (FPOs) are also associated with it. So far, a total agricultural trade of ₹ 4,39,941 crore has been done on this portal.
