There are some messages, after seeing which people are stunned. A message is going viral these days claiming that senior citizens above 75 will not have to pay taxes. It is said that 75 years of India’s independence will be completed, so older people above 75 will no longer have to pay taxes.

What was the claim made in the viral message?

The viral message on social media reads, “Big announcement of the central government – these people will not have to pay tax. In the completing years of India’s independence, senior citizens above 75 will not have to pay taxes on their salaries.

Senior citizens living on income from pension and other schemes in India will not have to pay any tax. They will not have to file income tax returns; senior citizens are exempt from this.
