EPFO Delink: Big news for EPFO members. Sometimes, due to a job change or some other error, the wrong PF member ID gets linked to the UAN (Universal Account Number). This can damage your service history and cause problems with future claims. Therefore, it’s crucial to correct this in a timely manner. It’s worth noting that previously, employees had to visit the EPFO office to correct such errors, but now there’s good news for you.
In fact, the EPFO introduced a new feature earlier this year, allowing any employee to unlink an incorrect member ID linked to their UAN online. The unlinking process is also quite simple. Let’s first understand what a UAN is and what the consequences are if the wrong PF number is linked to the UAN…
First of all know what is UAN?
It’s worth noting that the UAN, or Universal Account Number, is a 12-digit unique number issued by the EPFO. It serves as an umbrella number for all your PF accounts. While you get a new PF number every job change, the UAN remains the same, and all member IDs are added under it.
What is the harm if wrong PF number is added?
If the wrong PF number is linked to your UAN, it can disrupt your service history. This can also lead to technical issues with PF claims or transfers. Furthermore, your funds can become stuck and the risk of claim rejection increases. So let’s learn how to unlink an incorrect PF number…
