EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organization) has taken a very big and beneficial step for the employed people. Now linking Aadhaar with UAN (Universal Account Number) has become easier than ever. The purpose of this step is that the facilities related to PF reach the employees directly, so that they do not have to visit the company again and again. If your Aadhaar is not yet linked to UAN, or any information in it is wrong, then you can easily correct it. Let us know about this entire process in detail.
New process of linking Aadhaar
EPFO has simplified the process of linking Aadhaar with UAN from 13 August 2025. If your name, gender, and date of birth are recorded in UAN exactly match the information given in Aadhaar, then you will not need any separate approval. Your employer will easily link it using the KYC feature available on its portal. Earlier, even a slight mistake in the name or any other information required multiple levels of approval and a lot of paperwork. Now this problem has been resolved.
Correct the wrong information like this
EPFO has also simplified the process of the Joint Declaration (JD). If your Aadhaar number is wrongly linked or if any information in your UAN is wrong, then you can easily correct it. If a wrong Aadhaar number is linked to UAN by mistake, then your employer can send the correct Aadhaar number online by filling it in the JD form, which will be approved by the officials immediately. If there is any difference in the name, gender, or date of birth in Aadhaar and UAN, then the employer can request a change through the JD form.
What to do if the company closes down or the employer is not available
This was the biggest problem, which has been solved by EPFO. If your company is closed or your previous employer is not available, you can still do this:
You can go to the EPFO regional office in your area and submit the physical JD form at the PRO counter.
This form should be signed by an authorized person.
After verification, the PRO will put your request in the system.
Link Aadhaar to UAN through the UMANG app
You can also link Aadhaar to UAN using the UMANG app while sitting at home.
Open the UMANG app and enter your UAN number.
An OTP will be sent to the mobile number registered with UAN.
After entering the OTP, fill in your Aadhaar details.
Now another OTP will be sent to the mobile number and email registered with Aadhaar.
As soon as you verify this OTP, your Aadhaar will be linked to UAN.
This new facility makes PF-related work easier, faster, and more transparent, which will provide great relief to the employees.
